What temperature should an infrared sauna be set at?

It is not overly important to know what temperature an infrared sauna should be set at as the temperature will be constantly adjusted during your session.

You may feel like pushing harder or you might just feel like a gentle session depending on your mood. All of the above are good options and all are beneficial to you.

Infrared saunas work by directly heating the body using a safe wavelength of light, which we perceive as heat. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the surrounding space, infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures, making them more comfortable. But what temperature should an infrared sauna be set at to maximize its benefits?

While the ideal temperature may vary based on personal preference, we recommend setting your infrared sauna temperature between 45°C and 55°C.

It is good idea to enter the sauna at around 45 - 50°C and set the heater to heat up to 60°C or even as high as 65°C. The sauna heat will gradually rise allowing your body to adjust to the heat incrementally. As it starts to become too hot, you can simply adjust the heat control down to suit your comfort level..

Aim for a session duration of approximately 30 to 45 minutes. With our infrared saunas, you can easily adjust the temperature and time using the digital control panel, allowing you to customise your experience. Feel free to enter the sauna as it heats up—it won't affect your session.

To enhance your sauna experience and reap the most benefits, consider the following tips:

  1. Stay hydrated: Drink water before, during, and after your sauna sessions to keep yourself properly hydrated and help regulate your body temperature.

  2. Cool down with a cold shower: After your sauna session, take a refreshing cold shower. Not only will it help you cool down, but it will also cleanse your skin of perspiration and toxins released during the sauna session. Additionally, a cold shower may activate cold shock proteins, potentially aiding in weight loss by facilitating the breakdown of fat.

  3. Adjust the temperature if needed: If you find the sauna temperature too high, you can open the vent or door or lower the temperature setting to create a more comfortable environment.
