Using the Harvia Heater Control Settings

How to Control the Harvia Vega Heater Using the Dials

1) Locate the Two Control Dials

On Harvia Vega models with built-in mechanical controls, you’ll see two knobs on the front or top area of the heater:

  • Timer dial (serves as ON/OFF and pre-set time)

  • Temperature dial (thermostat)

2) Turn the Heater On

  • Turn the timer dial clockwise from the off position.

  • As you rotate it past zero, the heater will turn on and start heating.

  • The heater runs until the timer counts down to zero.

Tip: The timer usually isn’t digital — think of it like a mechanical kitchen timer. It shuts off automatically when time runs up.

3) Set the Operating Time

  • Rotate the timer dial to the desired number of hours you want the heater to run.

  • Example: Turn to 2 hours if you want the heater to heat and stay on for roughly two hours before it shuts off.

Delayed start:

  • On some Harvia mechanical models, turning the timer past the immediate “run” zone can set a delayed start; the heater will wait and then begin heating so it’s ready later.

4) Set Desired Temperature

  • Turn the temperature dial (thermostat knob) clockwise to increase heat, counter-clockwise to reduce heat.

  • The thermostat will automatically cycle the heater on and off to maintain the chosen temperature.

This doesn’t directly power the heater— it adjusts when the heating elements switch off as the sauna approaches the target temp.

5) Adjust During Heating

  • If the sauna gets too hot for you, turn the temperature dial down slightly.

  • If it isn’t hot enough, turn it up.

  • You don’t need precise exact settings; these dials are approximate and act like a thermostat setpoint.

6) Turn Heater Off Early

  • Simply turn the timer dial back to zero to stop heating at any time before the timer ends.

Quick Summary

  1. Turn timer dial clockwise to power on the heater.

  2. Set timer length for how long you want it to stay on.

  3. Adjust temperature dial clockwise/counter-clockwise to raise/lower your set temp.

  4. Turn timer back to zero to shut off manually.
